South Pacific is a medley of songs from the Broadway musical and film of the same name written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II in 1949. Songs included are: Bali Ha'i, Cockeyed Optimist, Bloody Mary, There Is Nothin' Like A Dame, I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair, Twin Soliloquies, I'm In Love With A Wonderful Guy, Younger Than Springtime, Honey Bun, and Some Enchanted Evening. Ken McCoy arranged this medley in 1989 for chorus, soloist, and band for the US Army Field Band under Colonel William E. Clark, 1979-1991. Ken McCoy graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. After earning his degree in music education, he taught instrumental music for four years in public schools. In 1977, he accepted a position with the United States Field Band as a staff arranger and eventually was promoted to Chief Arranger. McCoy's arrangements and compositions have been performed in all 50 US states and several foreign countries. In 1995, he joined the Ohio State University Marching Band Staff and arranged at least one full half time show per year for the band culminating with his 23rd show in 2017. Ken McCoy passed away January 11, 2018. |
