The House I Live In was written by Earl Robinson and Lewis Allen (Abel Meeropol) in 1942 for the musical Let Freedom Sing. Ken McCoy arranged the song in 2009 for the Dayton Philharmonic Concert Band. Ken McCoy graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. After earning his degree in music education, he taught instrumental music for four years in public schools. In 1977, he accepted a position with the United States Field Band as a staff arranger and eventually was promoted to Chief Arranger. McCoy's arrangements and compositions have been performed in all 50 US states and several foreign countries. In 1995, he joined the Ohio State University Marching Band Staff and arranged at least one full half time show per year for the band culminating with his 23rd show in 2017. Ken McCoy passed away January 11, 2018. |
