Modern Broadway is a collection of songs that were from Broadway shows. Songs in this collection include: from the musical Hairspray, Good Morning Baltimore and You Can't Stop the Beat written by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman in 2002; from the musical Jersey Boys, Big Girls Don't Cry, Walk Like a Man, and Sherry written by Bob Gaudio and Bob Crewe in 2004 (the songs were actually written and performed previously in the 1950's-1960's); 6. from the musical Wicked, Defying Gravity written by Stephen Schwartz in 2003; and from the musical Mama Mia, Mama Mia and Dancing Queen written by Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson in 1975. Ken McCoy arranged this show 2009 for the Ohio State University Marching Band. Ken McCoy graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. After earning his degree in music education, he taught instrumental music for four years in public schools. In 1977, he accepted a position with the United States Field Band as a staff arranger and eventually was promoted to Chief Arranger. McCoy's arrangements and compositions have been performed in all 50 US states and several foreign countries. In 1995, he joined the Ohio State University Marching Band Staff and arranged at least one full half time show per year for the band culminating with his 23rd show in 2017. Ken McCoy passed away January 11, 2018. |
