Description |
Around the World is a medley of songs including: 1. Around the World written by Harold Adamson and Victor Young in 1956 for the film of the same title, 2. Arriverderci Roma was written by Renato Rascel, Pietro Garinei and Sandro Giovannini in 1955. It was used in the soundtrack of Seven Hills of Rome, 3. A Foggy Day was written by George and Ira Gershwin in 1937 for the film A Damsel in Distress., 4. April in Paris was written by Yip Harburg and Vernon Duke in 1932 for the Broadway musical Walk a Little Faster, and 5. Granada was written by Agustin Lara in 1932. This medley was arranged by Ken McCoy for a female vocal soloist with band for the US Army Field Band under Lieutenant Commander William E. Clark, 1979-1991. Ken McCoy graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. After earning his degree in music education, he taught instrumental music for four years in public schools. In 1977, he accepted a position with the United States Field Band as a staff arranger and eventually was promoted to Chief Arranger. McCoy's arrangements and compositions have been performed in all 50 US states and several foreign countries. In 1995, he joined the Ohio State University Marching Band Staff and arranged at least one full half time show per year for the band culminating with his 23rd show in 2017. Ken McCoy passed away January 11, 2018. |
