Harold Arlen is a medley of songs written by composer Harold Arlen including: 1. Blues In The Night,1941, for the film of the same name, 2. Over The Rainbow, 1939, for the film The Wizard of Oz, 3. Old Black Magic, 1942, for the film Star Spangle Rhythm. Ken McCoy arranged this medley for vocal solo with band in 1988 for the US Army Field Band in 1988 under Colonel William E. Clark, 1979-1991. Ken McCoy graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. After earning his degree in music education, he taught instrumental music for four years in public schools. In 1977, he accepted a position with the United States Field Band as a staff arranger and eventually was promoted to Chief Arranger. McCoy's arrangements and compositions have been performed in all 50 US states and several foreign countries. In 1995, he joined the Ohio State University Marching Band Staff and arranged at least one full half time show per year for the band culminating with his 23rd show in 2017. Ken McCoy passed away January 11, 2018. |
