Sentimentale was written by Claude Bolling in 1973 and is from the album Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano. Ken McCoy arranged this score in 1980 and it was performed by the US Army Field and Band under Major William E. Clark, 1979-1991 and Captain G. Hulse. Sentimentale is misspelled on the cover as Sentementale. Ken McCoy graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. After earning his degree in music education, he taught instrumental music for four years in public schools. In 1977, he accepted a position with the United States Field Band as a staff arranger and eventually was promoted to Chief Arranger. McCoy's arrangements and compositions have been performed in all 50 US states and several foreign countries. In 1995, he joined the Ohio State University Marching Band Staff and arranged at least one full half time show per year for the band culminating with his 23rd show in 2017. Ken McCoy passed away January 11, 2018. |
