Description |
Jingle Bells was written in 1850 by James Lord Pierpont and published in 1857 under the title The One Horse Open Sleigh. This arrangement is by Marty Paich, released in 1967 by Barbara Streisand. Ken McCoy adapted this version for the US Army Field Band in 1984 for vocal and band under Lieutenant William E. Clark, 1979-1991 and Captain Virginia Allen. Ken McCoy graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. After earning his degree in music education, he taught instrumental music for four years in public schools. In 1977, he accepted a position with the United States Field Band as a staff arranger and eventually was promoted to Chief Arranger. McCoy's arrangements and compositions have been performed in all 50 US states and several foreign countries. In 1995, he joined the Ohio State University Marching Band Staff and arranged at least one full half time show per year for the band culminating with his 23rd show in 2017. Ken McCoy passed away January 11, 2018. |
