Wild About Harry is a medley of songs performed by trumpeter Harry James. James played in the Ben Pollack band, Benny Goodman's band, and later formed the Music Makers. He discovered Frank Sinatra, Dick Haymes, Kitty Kallen, Connie Haines, and Helen Forrest. Songs in this medley include 1. You Made Me Love You was written by James V. Monaco and Joseph McCarthy in 1913, 2. Young Man With A Horn is a movie and an album released in 1950, and 3. Ciribiribin written by Alberto Pestalozza and Carlo Tiochet in 1898. Ken McCoy arranged this medley in 1983 as a trumpet solo with band for the US Army Field Band under Lieutenant William Clark, 1979-1991. Ken McCoy graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. After earning his degree in music education, he taught instrumental music for four years in public schools. In 1977, he accepted a position with the United States Field Band as a staff arranger and eventually was promoted to Chief Arranger. McCoy's arrangements and compositions have been performed in all 50 US states and several foreign countries. In 1995, he joined the Ohio State University Marching Band Staff and arranged at least one full half time show per year for the band culminating with his 23rd show in 2017. Ken McCoy passed away January 11, 2018. |
