Description |
Wyoming was written by Charles Edwin Winter and Earle R. Clemens in 1903. In 1920 George Edwin Knapp composed a new melody for the song. That adaption was adopted as the state song in 1955. Ken McCoy arranged the Winter/Knapp song in 1990 for the US Army Field Band under Colonel William E. Clark, 1979-1991. Ken McCoy graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. After earning his degree in music education, he taught instrumental music for four years in public schools. In 1977, he accepted a position with the United States Field Band as a staff arranger and eventually was promoted to Chief Arranger. McCoy's arrangements and compositions have been performed in all 50 US states and several foreign countries. In 1995, he joined the Ohio State University Marching Band Staff and arranged at least one full half time show per year for the band culminating with his 23rd show in 2017. Ken McCoy passed away January 11, 2018. |
