A Buckeye Medley contains the following songs: 1. Buckeye Battle Cry written by Frank Crumit in 1918, 2. Carmen Ohio written by Fred Cornell in 1902-1903, 3. Across The Field written by William A. Dougherty Jr. in 1915. Ken McCoy arranged the band score for the Ohio State University Marching Band in 1997 with the vocal arrangements by R. Heine and J. Hyde. Ohio State University Concert Band Professor Gary Lewis, Conductor and Ohio State University Men's Glee Club Professor James Gallagher, Conductor. Thank You Note: Thanks again for the terrific arrangement of the "Buckeye" tunes. It was truly a fine setting that was obviously well-received. I hope that you were pleased! Best Wishes! Gary Ken McCoy graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. After earning his degree in music education, he taught instrumental music for four years in public schools. In 1977, he accepted a position with the United States Field Band as a staff arranger and eventually was promoted to Chief Arranger. McCoy's arrangements and compositions have been performed in all 50 US states and several foreign countries. In 1995, he joined the Ohio State University Marching Band Staff and arranged at least one full half time show per year for the band culminating with his 23rd show in 2017. Ken McCoy passed away January 11, 2018. |
