The Sound of Music was written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II for Broadway in 1959 with a film adaptation in 1965. Ken McCoy arranged this show for the Ohio State University Marching Band in 2015. The songs in the show are: Opener, Do-Re-Me, Lonely Goatherd, My Favorite Things, Climb Every Mountain, and So Long, Farewell. Ken McCoy graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. After earning his degree in music education, he taught instrumental music for four years in public schools. In 1977, he accepted a position with the United States Field Band as a staff arranger and eventually was promoted to Chief Arranger. McCoy's arrangements and compositions have been performed in all 50 US states and several foreign countries. In 1995, he joined the Ohio State University Marching Band Staff and arranged at least one full half time show per year for the band culminating with his 23rd show in 2017. Ken McCoy passed away January 11, 2018. |
