A Touch of Rainbows is a medley of Judy Garland songs including: 1. You Made Me Love You was written by James V. Monaco and Joseph McCarthy and used in the Broadway revue The Honeymoon Express in 1913. Judy Garland sang it in film Broadway Melody in 1938., 2. The Trolley Song was written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane. It was sang by Judy Garland in 1944 for the film Meet Me In St. Louis, and 3. Over The Rainbow was written by Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg for the 1939 film the Wizard of Oz. Ken McCoy arranged the melody A Touch of Rainbows in 1981 for the US Army Field Band under Lieutenant Colonel William Clark, 1979-1991. Ken McCoy graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. After earning his degree in music education, he taught instrumental music for four years in public schools. In 1977, he accepted a position with the United States Field Band as a staff arranger and eventually was promoted to Chief Arranger. McCoy's arrangements and compositions have been performed in all 50 US states and several foreign countries. In 1995, he joined the Ohio State University Marching Band Staff and arranged at least one full half time show per year for the band culminating with his 23rd show in 2017. Ken McCoy passed away January 11, 2018. |
