New England Rendezvous is a medley composed of the songs 1. Old Cape Cod was written by Claire Rothrock, Milton Yakus, and Allan Jeffrey in 1957, 2. Moonlight in Vermont was written by John Black burn and Karl Suessdorf in 1944, and 3. New York, New York was written by John Kander and Fred Ebb for the film of the same title in 1977. Ken McCoy arranged the medley in 1981 as a vocal solo for the US Army Field Band under Lieutenant Colonel William E. Clark, 1979-1991. Ken McCoy graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. After earning his degree in music education, he taught instrumental music for four years in public schools. In 1977, he accepted a position with the United States Field Band as a staff arranger and eventually was promoted to Chief Arranger. McCoy's arrangements and compositions have been performed in all 50 US states and several foreign countries. In 1995, he joined the Ohio State University Marching Band Staff and arranged at least one full half time show per year for the band culminating with his 23rd show in 2017. Ken McCoy passed away January 11, 2018. |
