Description |
Vermont State Song or Hail To Vermont was written by Josephine Hovey Perry in 1937 and was the state song from 1938-2000. It was replaced by These Green Mountains written by Diane Martin and Rita Buglass in 2000. Ken McCoy arranged Hail to Vermont in 1989 for the US Army Field Band under Colonel William E. Clark, 1979-1991. Ken McCoy graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, Ohio. After earning his degree in music education, he taught instrumental music for four years in public schools. In 1977, he accepted a position with the United States Field Band as a staff arranger and eventually was promoted to Chief Arranger. McCoy's arrangements and compositions have been performed in all 50 US states and several foreign countries. In 1995, he joined the Ohio State University Marching Band Staff and arranged at least one full half time show per year for the band culminating with his 23rd show in 2017. Ken McCoy passed away January 11, 2018. |
